The UHS library is a specialized medical/health sciences library intended to serve the
faculty, students, researchers and staff of the university. The library has a plentiful and
diversified collection of information resources. The collection of the library is developed in
line with the requirements of offered courses as well as to support research endeavors being
undertaken at the university. Providing support to scholarly pursuits and research activities
along with curriculum related needs of the students and faculty of the university are the
determinants for selection and procuring new library material. The UHS library is exploiting
state-of-the-art technology and systems. Library is utilizing open source integrated library
system i.e. Koha, to automate its operations. Similarly, EM based security system has been
deployed to secure the library collections. The collection of the library is being added, with a
steady pace, to keep the collection updated. Besides books on hardcore medical subjects,
library also possesses some books of popular literature and Islam. Currently, UHS library
houses over 6,000 printed and 50,000 electronic books, 35,000 electronic journals are
accessible across the campus as well as remotely through VPN facility. Library also owns other materials including audios, videos,
CD-ROMS, DVDs, etc. In order to provide maximum facilitation to faculty and students of the
university, seminar libraries have also been established within the academic departments of
the university. These seminar libraries help faculty of concerned department to fulfill their
information needs immediately. The professional and para-professional staff of the UHS
library remains available round the clock to assist library users in their academic endeavours
through high quality innovative services.
The books and other reading materials are arranged subject wise into various sections. The library material has been classified through internationally recognized; the Dewey Decimal classification scheme, which provides basis to catalogue and shelving of information resources.

This is the main collection containing high quality selective books related to the UHS academic programmes. The major subject areas are Anatomy, Allied Health Sciences, Behavioural Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemical Pathology, Family Medicine, Forensic Sciences, Human Genetics & Molecular Biology, Haematology, Immunology, Medical Education, Microbiology, Morbid Anatomy & Histopathology, Nursing, Oral Biology, Oral Pathology, Physiology, and Pharmacology. The general collection also contains some selected books on famous literature and Islam.Reference CollectionA variety of current reference sources are available In the library. This collection also contains dictionaries, encyclopedias, and handbooks.

The library facilitates researchers, faculty and students of the university in managing their citations/bibliographies. For this purpose, we are exploiting commercial as well as free-of- cost citation management tools. These tools include End Note, Ref Works, Mendeley and Zotero. The library also provides hands-on training in effectively utilize these resources.
ACS provides access to over 30 peer-reviewed journals and magazines in all fields of chemistry Subject Strengths include Core, Applied, Organic Chemistry, Bio- Chemistry, Pharmaceuticals, Polymers and Materials Science.
Cambridge Journals Online is the online content delivery service for Cambridge University Pressís collection of nearly 200 leading journals in the field of Politics, Linguistics, Social Science, Humanities, Law, Mathematics, Science, and Medicine.
ebrary offers a wide variety of multidisciplinary content. It provides access to full-text electronic books of leading academic publishers on Health, Biomedical & Clinical Services and Life & Physical Sciences.

University of Health Sciences (UHS) library, with the support of Department of Information Technology (DIT) of the university, has deployed Virtual Private Network (VPN) to facilitate library users in their researches through providing them remote access to digital library/electronic resources of the University. The facility will assist usersí access to full text electronic resources; including articles and books when they are away from the university campus.

How to Obtain VPN Use Credentials
VPN use credentials may be obtained by submitting duly filled VPN request form to UHS library. The VPN request form may be found from UHS library or downloaded from [For Faculty | For Students]. The processing time is one working day.
VPN Use Policies
a. VPN facility is for individual use only.
b. VPN Users are requested to bring their laptops for getting VPN configured. Alternatively, they can download configuration guidelines
c. VPN users are responsible for the security of their access credentials. Any unauthorized use will be liable to disciplinary action.
d. Unauthorized use of the VPN is strictly prohibited and is strongly discouraged. University reserves the right to take legal action against culprits.
e. Any kind of misuse, redirection, use of network discovery tools and penetration testing is not permitted to use while connected to UHS network.
f. University may suspend or block the VPN account on violation of use policies.
g. UHS reserves the right to audit all VPN client systems, and all communication between VPN users systems and the UHS network, for compliance with all applicable information technology services security requirements
