An international Symposium titled: "Medical Education: a Rollercoaster Ride”

An international symposium and a colloquium on Medical Education titled “Medical Education: a Rollercoaster Ride” at the UHS Lahore on the 29th March 2010 till 31st March 2010

UHS had declared Year 2009-10 as the Year of Medical Education. In this regards, UHS is organizing an International symposium and a colloquium titled; “Medical Education: a Rollercoaster Ride” on 29th March 2010.

Internationally renowned medical educationist from UK and USA will participate in the event. The topics covered would be;

  1. Traditional Vs Problem Based Learning in our medical institutions.
  2. Professionalism Vs Commercialism in the medical profession.
  3. Student’s participation as stake holders.

Medical Teaching and curriculum designing has come to a crossroad when it comes to the future direction in this field. A full debate on this issue will help us identifying our weaknesses and strength and enable us to determine the future direction.

Medical professionals are facing an increasing criticism for their nonprofessional and unethical behavior when it comes to the clinical practices and therefore, it is important that we should openly debate this among ourselves and decide that our practices are driven professionally and not commercially.

An open house debate among our medical students and young doctors has been arranged with some invited students from the UK who were taught through the PBL so that the students can themselves have an idea about the future mode of teaching and learning.

Objectively Structured Performance Evaluation (OSPE) for MBBS
