Office-bearers elected for UHS Leadership Skills and Character-Building Society

Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders: UHS Nominates Dr. Aisha Tahir as Girl Scout Leader for “Female Rover/ Scout Leader Course" at Murree

The Leadership Skills and Character-Building Society (LCBS) of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) nominated Dr. Ayesha Tahir (Assistant Professor) as the Girl Scout leader for one-week training at Ghora Gali Murree under Punjab Boy Scouts Association. The purpose of this intensive training course is twofold: to provide mission-driven education and practical training for self-reliance, self-confidence, and to cultivate a sense of civic responsibility among young scouts. The course aims to equip Scout leaders, like Dr. Aisha Tahir, with the essential skills and knowledge needed to establish Scout activities within educational institutions, thereby fostering holistic development among students.

Key Objectives of the Training Course:

1. Promoting Good Citizenship: The primary objective of the training is to instill a sense of civic duty and responsibility among the youth. Through interactive sessions and practical activities, scouts will learn about the importance of active citizenship and community engagement.

2. Holistic Development: The training course is designed to facilitate the holistic development of young scouts, encompassing their spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical, and social dimensions. Through a variety of workshops and team-building exercises, scouts will have the opportunity to explore and develop their talents and interests in a supportive environment.

3. Development of Patriotism: To inculcate loyalty to the beloved country and thoughtfulness for others.

4. Building Essential Skills: Scouts will be encouraged to cultivate essential life skills such as observation, obedience, and self-reliance. By engaging in outdoor activities and survival skills training such as first aid, fire-making techniques, setting up camps, and selecting appropriate locations, scouts will gain the confidence and resilience needed to navigate challenges both in and out of the scouting community.

5. Vocational Skills Development: To teach service, useful to the public, and vocational training useful to themselves.

6. Environmental Awareness: To educate participants on the importance of preserving nature while engaging in outdoor activities and promoting sustainable practices and respect for the environment.

Achievement: Dr. Aisha Tahir was awarded the Flag of Honor for Best Camp Setup at the Female Rover/ Scout Leader Course Training.

The Leadership Skills and Character-Building Society (LCBS) of University of Health Sciences (UHS) nominated Dr. Shah Jahan (Associate Professor) as the Boy Scout leader for one-week training at Ghora Gali Murree under Punjab Boy Scouts Association. The purpose of this intensive training course is twofold: to provide mission-driven education and practical training for self-reliance, self-confidence, and to cultivate a sense of civic responsibility among young scouts. The elections for the office-bearers of the Leadership Skills and Character-Building Society were conducted on Tuesday, April 16 , at Jinnah Campus, KSK. Irtaza Ali, a 7th Semester student pursuing BS in Human Genetics and Molecular Biology, was elected as the President, while Hira Khalid, in her 4th Year of DPT, secured the position of Vice President. Pakeeza Nayab, also in her 7th Semester of BS Human Genetics & Molecular Biology, was elected as the Organizer. Syed Summaar Irtiza Naqvi, in his 1st Semester of BS MLT, assumed the role of Publication Secretary. Haram Tariq, studying in the 5th Semester of BS Transfusion Medicine, was elected as the Student Affairs Secretary, and Muhammad Shayan, a 4th Year DPT student, was chosen as the Media Secretary.

The session was presided over by the UHS Pro-Vice Chancellor and Chairperson of the Society, Prof Nadia Naseem. More than 200 students participated in the online voting process.

The aims and objectives of the society include fostering leadership skills and character development among its members, promoting a sense of responsibility and accountability, and providing opportunities for personal growth and self-improvement.
