Discipline Specific Faculty Council (DSFC) Histopathology Seminar

Date: 20th August 2025

The Department of Histopathology, University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, organized the DSFC “SLIDE” Seminar – Learning, Insights & Diagnostic Expertise.

The session was held under the patronage of UHS leadership and brought together faculty from various UHS-affiliated colleges through both in-person and online participation.

Objectives of the Seminar:
  • To foster academic collaboration and share teaching resources
  • To enhance diagnostic expertise through case-based discussions of rare entities
  • To provide a platform for discussion and resolution of curriculum-related issues for undergraduate MBBS students as per the UHS 2K23 Curriculum

Key Presentations Included: Renal dysplasia, Gastrointestinal lymphoma, Myxofibrosarcoma, and the role of FNAC in diagnostic practices.

The seminar successfully promoted a culture of research, collegiality, and cross-institutional learning. Participants appreciated UHS for initiating this valuable platform and recommended more focused sessions on the modular pathology curriculum.





2. PRE- PAP Workshops

i. The workshop titled “Dermatopathology: Strengthening Global Partnerships in the Field of Pathology” was organized by the Pakistan Association of Pathologists and hosted by the Histopathology Department at University of Health Sciences Lahore on 9th October 2025. The activity aimed to enhance participants’ diagnostic skills in dermatopathology through exposure to diverse and challenging cases, integrating morphological evaluation with clinical correlation for improved diagnostic accuracy. It comprised a live microscopy session followed by interactive case-based discussions led by expert speakers, facilitating practical learning and professional knowledge exchange among participants.






ii. The workshop titled “Soft Tissue & Vascular Tumors: Diagnostic Challenges and Practical Solutions” was organized by the Pakistan Association of Pathologists and hosted by the Histopathology Department at University of Health Sciences Lahore on 10th October 2025. The session aimed to enhance participants’ ability to recognize histological patterns of soft tissue and vascular tumors and integrate molecular pathology, immunohistochemistry, and special stains for accurate diagnosis and classification.
